     Sail Canada Basic Coastal Navigation

Electronic Navigation has made the seas much safer and Challenge Sailing School recommends that every sailor makes use of a fully charged hand held device or chartplotter with a navigation program installed. This course includes a session on the nuances of electronic navigation - specifically Garmin Navionics.

Challenge Sailing School absolutely believes that sailors who understand and apply Basic Coastal Navigation principles in conjunction with electronics when passage planning when Coastal Cruising are better, safer sailors.

Challenge Sailing School holds two Coastal Navigation Courses each year in the Spring and Fall. This course is not an online, do it yourself course. However you will take this course from the comfort of your home or wherever you happen to be on the session date. You will receive a Power Point plus a recording at the conclusion of each session.

The course is taught by Zoom, with 6 (2 1/2 hour) sessions and Exam review, followed by an open book, 3 hour exam.
